ART
-
Intent
Our art and design curriculum seeks to engage, inspire and challenge our pupils equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment and create their own art, craft and design. Our aim is for pupils to develop practical knowledge by learning the methods and techniques that artists, craft-makers and designers use. They can also build their theoretical knowledge of the tools, materials and history of art, craft and design and acquire knowledge about the way art is judged, valued and evaluated.
-
Implementation
The curriculum is sequenced from the early years foundation stage to the end of key stage two to enable pupils to develop their knowledge and skills in drawing, painting and sculpture as well as other areas of making and other art, craft and design techniques. Pupils use sketchbooks to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas.
-
Impact
Pupils enjoy art and design and get better at the subject as they move through early years and their primary education, developing a love of the subject that will continue in secondary school and beyond.
