At Dersingham Primary school, we provide memorable science lessons and support our children in becoming independent, passionate scientists. Our intent is to offer every pupil a broad, balanced and ambitious science curriculum which enables them to confidently explore and discover science around them, so they have a deeper understanding of the world we live in. We want to instil a love of science within our pupils, develop a lifelong interest in the subject and expose them to careers that incorporate science.

At Dersingham we have a coherently planned and sequenced curriculum which has been carefully designed and developed with the pupil at the centre of all we do. The topics have been sequenced to ensure that pupils know more and remember more by building on their knowledge of natural phenomena. We meet the needs of the disadvantaged pupils in our community by making the topics easily accessible and related to the real world. The curriculum has been written so that all pupils are given opportunities to continually build upon and develop their scientific understanding through repetition and progression of scientific skills. Pupils are encouraged to ask their own questions and are given opportunities to use their scientific skills and research to discover the answers.
